President
Hiiiiiii! It's an honor to be
serving as the
2007-2008 SWE SDSU president! As a junior, I hope to share what I
have learned the past two years from previous SWE
officers and continue to improve this wonderful
organization. When I was a Freshman, my sister brought me to a
SWE meeting, and it opened the wonderful world of Engineering to
me. In fact, at the end of Fall 2005, I actually changed my major
from Microbiology to Bioengineering, because the SWE leaders and
members helped me realize that I was meant to major in both Biology AND
Engineering. I met one of my close friends, Maggie (who will be
serving as VP), in one of my engineering classes. As a
leader for SWE, I hope to live out the missions of SWE to Aspire,
Advance, and Achieve. I hope that I, too, can be apart in
breaking down the gender barriers in Engineering and help young girls
realize that they can achieve anything they put their minds to.
Vice President
Maggie
Corral
My
name is Maggie Corral. I am 19 years old. I am from San Diego. My major
is Aerospace engineering and this year will be my second year here at
SDSU. I joined SWE through a friend of mine, and I stayed because she
made me. Just kidding; I stayed at SWE because everyone was so nice and
because SWE focuses a lot in helping other students build good contacts
for their major. SWE promotes the idea that students should meet other
(professional) engineers in your field, and they work really hard to
bring speakers from different companies that give very useful
information about what it is like to be an engineer in the ‘real
world.’ Another thing that I like about SWE is that SWE does a lot of
community service in different, interesting places.
Shannan Nyberg
Secretary
Hey
everyone, My name is Shannan and I'm your SWE SDSU Secretary. I'm the
one who emails you several times a week regarding our events and
meetings. I'm studying to be a Civil Engineer and aspire to one day be
the president of a major engineering firm. I hope that all engineering
students get the chance to join SWE and become a member because it is a
great way to network, meet other engineers, and make friends.

Co- Events
Hi! My name is Amanda and I am a sophomore Mechanical
Engineering major. I love
SWE because it gives you a great chance to make life long connections
in the professional world as well as personal. I have met so many
amazing people since I became I member last year. I was the
Co-Fundraiser last year which led me to want to be more involved with
SWE. I enjoy being the Co-Events Coordinator this year and look forward
to having some great events for SWE this year. I’m also involved in
many other activities on campus, but SWE is most definitely one of my
favorites. Look forward to seeing everyone at all of SWE’s events this
year!.
